Chances are, you just discovered I nominated myself for the voluntary separation package that Medtronic in Tempe Arizona offered in early March. The timing was good (never is there an absolutly "perfect" time) for me so, I gave myself a birthday present and decided to retire at 49! I have been diligently building my home based business on a part time basis for over three years now and I've reached the point were it was time for me to leave the constraints of "9 to 5" corporate life. Not bad for a $109 investment :-)
It's exciting to achieve the goal that I set for myself just a few short years ago. It's exciting to never have to do another "Yearly Performance Evaluation " or "Development Plan" ! It's exciting to cut my daily commute down from 38 miles to a walk across my house into my office!
During my time at Medtronic I've learned a lot about chronic diseases and health issues that plague our customers. We build INCREDIBLE products throughout our whole company. Quality days have always made me proud of our company. Because of this educational experience during the last 9+ years, I had decided to build a business around health and wellness products. No more energy drinks, soda or other products like that for me ! I've also lost over 30 pounds in the last several months.

I started with Medtronic on December 3rd of 2001. 6 weeks before this, I had just been involved in a RIF (Reduction in Force) from a great 6 figure paying position in the Semiconductor industry. They sold the company twice in 2 years and quietly moved some of the operations overseas to Singapore before letting the whole workforce go. Gotta' love how some Corporate America companies "Takes care" of their hardworking employees :-)
9 years previous to this I was also involved in another "RIF" when I worked for a Big Aerospace corporation here in Phoenix. I loved this job and would have retired from this company. Ultimatly, This was also my first negative experience with Corporate America. How could they take my job away from me that I loved? How dare they! I got great yearly reviews and worked hard giving 100% all the time ......How can you just take my income away that I need to survive on and to save for retirement ? Little did I know then in 1992 what was going to become common in all the years to follow.
I want a place to FINISH. I didn't want to keep starting over time after time.
For years we've all been told to go to school, get good grades, get a degree, find a great job and work hard for 40+ years so we can retire and enjoy our "golden years". This is what I used to believe also. It's 2011 - This doesn't work anymore. I'm tired of starting over just to let someone else decide when I'm finished.

In 2008 I decided to make a change in my life and go to work for myself. I saw the writing on the wall again and I could not sit around and just wait to possibly be caught in another seperation from my income. I needed a good strong "Plan B". I decided on an industry. I decided not to spend a lot of money to get started. I decided to give it a 5 year commitment. I decided to do it and I did it :-)
